PC love

An hour ago finally decided to plug up my PC. Its been sitting in my room for a good 3 weeks now. Thought i'd see what the fuss is about. Currently have a Black Gold 182 with swirls :( Firstly i washed down my door and wing, taping up the rubbers etc, and masked off half the door (for comparison purposes ;)) I first used the yellow pad with menzerna intensive poilish as the swirling/defects are pretty bad. (Cured the pad with megs quick detail first) A x of polish on the pad. Spred the polish over the door on a low setting of around 2. I then worked it in applying moderate pressure and upped the speed to around 4-5. Quick wipe down with a m/f. Then a change of pad to the white one, and used menzerna final finish. Gave it a once over pretty much the same as above. Untaped all rubbers and buffed up with a micro fibre. Sun then came out WOW!!!!! The difference is imense!!!!! Well chuffed, the gold flecks in the paint jump out lol! I was only messing about with it as i've not used one before...... i've got the first week off in July and i can't wait for it, gonna give the car a right going over!!!! I'll try and get some pics up, took some on my N73, (not uploaded the software yet) the difference is astounding.

If you have a Black Gold you NEED a PC!!!!! :) !!!

Ps would say going over the car with srp with the blue pad be of any benifit to say the above procedure? Or any more advise or tips off the pro's would be good!!!

Cheers

Glad it went well.

Yeah Black and PC is a must, ordered mine after a few months of ownership!

SRP by machine is a worthwhile step as it makes the SRP much more effective and easy to use.

Cool. What pad would you recommend the SRP on?

I'm chuffed to bits. Been trying to correct it by hand for the last month, it improved slightly, but nothing like how the PC has brought it up!!

Yeah you will get nowhere by hand with the defects on Black.

If you have used a nice finishing polish already use the SRP on a finishing pad.

If your using it after a cutting polish or standalone with no other polish before it use it on a polishing pad.

It'll probably be used after Final Finish on a white pad?...... will SRP be needed, or could i go straight to EGP?

I would use it on the finishing pad then, needed to allow the EGP to bond properly.

The first pics of my new car on here lol  From my N73 (not a bad pic i think!!!) You can clearly see the difference, i only washed down to the bumpstrips, the door and wing is clean.(to look at!) Bumpstrips were masked off. The swirling is bad as can be seen to the right if the door. Below them is the state of not washing the car for two weeks. It bloody is hard work, i'd imagine pc'ing a whole car will leave your hands feeling like jelly!!!

I was playing ;) Would the sfx kit pads be ok to do the skirts etc? 6" iirc...... not sure if they might be on the large side?

lot of dosh just for somehting which polishes your car isnt it.

You say that but look in the pics above. It would cost more to get some professional in...... I take more pride in doing it myself. You also have the equipment for life/different cars too :approve:

I use the 4 inch pads for the lower doors/quarters, side skirts, front and rear valences, spolier and tailgate. Of late I have also started to use them on the front wings of 172/182's.

Have all the above to do on mine (minus the wings) when I have chance to finish it.

true, very true. but then i dont feel my car is all that bad at the moment. The paintwork is lovely and its the only aspect of the car that makes me happy.

Though a PC would eb a worthwile investment for the cars i own in the future i guess.

Haha... lazy guy! :approve:

Yeh definitely make a huge impact - even on my car which only had minor swirls before PCing it made a huge impact. As Rich said, if you have a black car then a PC is essential if you want the paint in perfect condition.

Once you have done it and sealed it up nicely then you don't have to worry about polishing then sealing then going back to polish time and time again. Even people who don't seem to give a damn about their cars comment all the time how shiny mine is - even at work parked next to brand new top of the range BMWs the 172 still looks the part. My housemate even got a new R26 a month or so ago and mine looks in far better condition already despite being well over 3 years old now.
