Cool to have local rally I'll stick it in diary. Last time went to something that close was back in 1995 RAC Rally Special Stages at Rother Valley about 200 yards from our house.

Lots of events popping up but can the clubman afford to do these events that are now hopefully going to run. My interest in rallying is now zero unfortunately. Even my yearly trip to Mull is not what it used to be. The Twingo is getting prepared for sale and that's me done with rallying.

Closed-road events are beyond a lot of clubmen, but I think that's probably the case in a lot of countries. They're not entry level events at the end of the day though. The lack of affordable single-venue rallies is really problematic for sure, especially in certain parts of the country. Entry fees in particular are certainly an issue here across the board compared to some parts of Europe though. They're way higher than in France based on what @Nathan Evans has shared with me. On the flip side, some of our other costs are lower, as a lot of countries mandate more FIA approved clothing etc than we do.

There are certainly a lot of issues facing the sport, but still plenty to enjoy too.

It's just a load of s**t and why rallying is dieing. 50 roads closed should be 50 miles of roads for a start! A local fearing for horses, so move them across a field for the day or take them out for a ride nowhere near any roads then! Closed road rallys bring in millions of £ in revenue each year to local economy's, for example Mull makes an extra 1.3 million going to the local ecomomy and I would imagine jursey is similar. This event is obviously smaller but a few hundred thousand probably in a few days is nothing to be sniffed at given councils and business are struggling.

Not entirely unexpected. We put far too much power in the hands of the vocal minority. I wonder if European events have the same problems, or if the moaners are told to shut up and accept that it's for the greater good of the local economy.
