People's thoughts on Sonus Grey Clay ?

As above, spent just under 4 hours yesterday claying the car.

Mix of Grey and Green used, but regardless of how much qd i used, it sounded quite aggressive.

Now i know its a step up from the green, and tbh it really needed it.

But i wondered what people thought of it, many people use it ? Only when its an absolute must ?

Fairly aggressive as you found. Would not be my choice unless there was alot of contamination. The green on the other hand often appears to be too mild.

I wish I could find the Megs Quick Clay bars on there own as it seems the prefect medium.

I have only ever used Megs Quick clay and once I'd got the hang of it it wasn't to bad, helped putting it in warm water for an hour before. I bloody hate claying though!

echo that man :D

i tried using grey as the green is too mild but the grey felt far too aggressive so i stopped using it

ive just bought some of the clay from cleanyourcar, its the yellow polyclay, he claims its very similar to the clay which comes in the megs detailing kits so hopefully that will be a happy medium, i will report back if its any good :D

Be good to hear how it compares. The Megs seems an ideal balance in terms of aggressiveness, enough to do the job without being overly nasty.

luckily at the time i still had a bit of megs clay left but i have killed that piece now so will give the polyclay a whirl

Rich, Justin:
Had a go with the polyclay today, the verdict: i will probably keep hold of the 3 bars i got in the set to use as an alternative to the sonus green. The clay itself isnt very plyable so i had to leave it in the bowl of warm water for quite a while to soften it up, i then found i had to change pieces quite often so they could go back in the bowl and soften up as they went hard in the air very quickly.

as for aggressiveness, it was fine for the bonnet and roof but lacks the 'bite' that the megs clay has when it came down to the lower half of the car and the bootlid/bumper, i found i was having to apply quite a lot of pressure and it still wasn't shifting the contaminants so i opted to salvage the last bit of megs clay i had and made it stretch.

my next order will be for a batch of megs clay, its just a pain in the arse that it only comes in the sets with the detailer rather than on its own as ive got loads of last touch left which i use for lubrication.

i got a bar of it free with an order a few months back and it was brilliant. just recieved my new order last thursday and had ordered the kit of 3 bars in the box for £9.95

very good clay, but what i found was that it seemed to lift the particles off the paint instead of sticking to the clay. meaning i had to go back and wipe them off. not a complaint at all, as it meant i could get more done with one bar, but maybe down to poor technique.

either way, imo, an excellent clay bar.

**Edit** - agreed, it is rather hard, and firms up again quite fast
