Petrol gauge...

picked up my car today, dead chuffed with it... but, the petrol gauge is shot i think, it bassically drops randomly, after like 3/4, will stay for ages.... then all of a sudden drop down on the gauge??

anyone know the cause? i think it might be the "fuel sender"

its a clio mk1 1.4RT btw

Either that or the ball is stuck, get in the tank and find out £Renault will charge you minimum £300, not a hard job

yep lift up o/s/r seat take black cap out thats the sender/pump

You can sdee the sender under the black cover under the seats and it just screws out. The pump however is hidden and you need to drop the tank.(Except for very early valvers where its a combined unit)
