thanx all for your help,i'm not gettin much joy with trip comp either.only thing i do notice is the fuel light dosen't come on until the last moment with the computer showin 15 - 20 miles left is that normal.i would have thought it would be when the needle touches the red mark.renault said they'd need to do a diagnostic test on the sender ££££ :(

Wouldnt worry too much to be honest mate, Just fill up at around 250 miles to the tank youll be fine :D dont run it to the light too often either it drags the dregs through which aint ideal

The trip computer might say that you only have 20 miles left but I bet its being over cautious. The 172 has a 50L tank so when its gets that low go fill it up and find out how much you really have left. The trip once said I had 0L left in the tank but I could only put 45L in. Generally once the petrol light comes on you probably have about a gallon left so should get you another 25 miles.

Light should come on with 1 gallon or so left in the tank.

the computer won't register a reading when it gets that low, it will just display - - -.

i guess yours must be broken if its showing a reading all the way down to 0 miles, i would get that looked at.

That was not 0 miles left till the end of the tank. This was using the dash diag thing to see how many L of fuel you still have left.

Mine ran out of petrol on 50 miles on the trip computer, just gotta be over cautious and make sure there's plenty of petrol in it.

Strange, I was about to start a thread on this, only had mine since saturday, done about 220 miles and i've done 3/4's of a tank (which is fine) although the guage seems to be all over the place. Once i've stopped for a min to let it settle its fine, though my trip computer seems rather optimistic, as it reads around the 40mpg mark most of the time.
