Petrol smell

  Clio 182, Ford Focus
Hi guys,
Had anybody had this problem?
I’ve just bought a 182 a couple of days ago, I’ve now found that each time I start it, the cabin strongly smells of petrol, as soon as I start driving the smell goes, as soon as I’m reversing back on the drive the smell is back, any ideas?

Chances are it will because it has a decat. Do you know if the car has been mapped as might be running rich causing the smell

Not that I know of, a friend of mine knows his stuff, I’ll mention it to him and get him to check the fuel lines

It's the de-cat.

There is no catalytic converter, so the fuel just goes to the outside world. They stink, especially on warm up as it should be a little rich to try and get the cat hot so it does its job quicker.

lift the rear seat and pop the black plastic fuel pump cover up, see if the fuel connector is leaking .
