im getting 33 mpg round the town in my Mk1 1.2? is this normal? i took it really steady for the whole month but surly i should be getting more!!!! anything i can do to get the figure up?

Yeah the MPG isnt that impressive, i used to get around that but now i drive with a bit more restrain i can get close to 40mpg. On the motorways travelling at 100mph+ i got about 20mpg, and at 60mph around 54mpg.

i get about that in my 1.6 but thats with the air con on most of the time, a lot of stop start journeys, and a fair bit of ragging :)

Motorway driving i get 40+

so anyone know anyway i can improve it cus im putting £100+ in a month just to be burnt!!!! surly i should be getting closer to 50

the mk1 1.2 is an energy engine which wont be anywhere near as economical as the modern engines. a service may help,eg-change all the filters and the spark plugs.

has it got a k/n or exhaust on it?

got neither induction kit or an exhaust, the oil filter and oil were changed bout 4000 miles ago, how comes there not as economical mate????

their old technology. engine design has come a long way since the old energy engine. i would try a good service though to see if that helps.

well i get 269 to a full tank, so your getting bout 340 to a full tank, estimate your getting bout 40 mate but i cant work it out cus i aint got all the figures

I generally get about 33-34 mpg on combined driving, on motorways it spikes right up to about 44mpg, in town it can come to to as low as 28-9mpg
