PFC Editor gets his Gordini

  S4 Avant
Thats actually quite ok... ish!

I was expecting the blue with halfords finest wheels. But in that pic it looks alright.

Maybe because it's taken from the back

I agree, white suits. Renault let me spec it up so I went for the black Speedlines, Cup chassis and the Renaultsport monitor for trackdays. Useful piece of kit all told. So when's the next Peterborough/Midlands meet?

Cheers for the comments guys, I'm pretty pleased with it so far. And as for the quattro, respect to you all for knowing what she is (lower case 'q' too correctly observed!). She's the love of my life that car, now going for well deserved rest at a local bodyshop for a spruce up ready for summer.

The interior is a very nice place to be, I can tell you that much so far. Taking it out on the road tomorrow for its first proper drive!

nice. seems strange seeing a gordini in any colour but blue!
keep an eye on the east anglia section in local meetings. we have some meets in the peterborough with good turnouts.

Wow i like that, alot! I just wish i had seen more of them around in that colour combination before casting my previous judgement on the gordini. Any other shots on what it looks like, from the front perhaps? :)

So, some thoughts...
Went down to see Pug1Off today to shoot a couple of cars. Nice blat down the A43 to Brackley in Northants, nice bit of twisty stuff plus some plodding in heavy traffic.
Cup suspension is fantastic, but would tire lesser folk who just want comfort over handling. Engine only has 800 miles on it so lacks a bit of pace, but once revving it just pulls and pulls all the way up to 8k. Gearbox is really nice too, positive chunky action which just encourages you to match the right cog with revs. All in all, a really tidy little motor. I've got it on long term loan from Renault by the way - I didn't buy it! So massive thanks to Renault's press office. More updates in the mag!
Cheers

Looks really nice.

How do you feel it compares to a 197 (if you have driven one) - be honest, major difference or not?

I like the look of this Gordini, it's just a real shame that there are no Recaro seats as they are one of the favourite parts of my 200 Cup.

You also specified the Cup suspension and Speedlines, which certainly help it look (and feel) the part. I cannot help but think Renault missed a trick by not ensuring the Gordini included these as standard equipment. When people are looking at the options list it seems like the Gordini just has some stripes and blue interior bits etc. which points towards a marketing exercise and degrades the Gordini Racing heritage. The standard 200 has the same spec options and can be purchased much cheaper...

If you were buying, which I know is not the case for this car, then I cannot fathom a reason why anyone would actually buy a Gordini, unless there was a price advantage or particularly good deal.

I so nearly ordered one in white just for the fact it comes with all the options etc. Ill admit, the inside of the gordini is a nicer place to be, but the blue trim ruined it...if it was white so it tied in with the outside it would be better.

Looking forward to seeing this about!
