ph 2 rear lights

  Ph 1 172
quick one really as i have just fitted the ph2 rear lights to my phase 1. now i know loads of people have done this on here but did you declare this to your insurance as im not sure if you have to or not? could not get through to them today to ask. i know its a mod but its a renault standard part from a mk2, which is why im asking.

I asked my insurance about it. They said as long as it is a genuine Renault part then you don't need to declare it.

Although if you happen to have an accident, it will be repaired with standard ph1 rear lights

I'm not declaring the "little" mods on my clio - the Ph2 rear lights, the fog lights (not standard on mine), the carbon fibre'd front diamond, the Seat Leon Cupra R splitter.

Basically if it is purely cosmetic and if it's not very expensive to replace then I'm not declaring it as every time I declare something i get charged a £20 admin fee for the pleasure of talking to them on the phone and getting a new insurance document sent to me. Oh and every little mod will probably increase my (already sizeable) premium.

On the other hand I have declared my other mods as they effect the way the car handles/would cost a lot of money to replace (also they make the car more likely to be stolen because of the added value) - Eibach Sportlines, Ph2 172 Alloys and my 182 interior.

Oh, also, how did you find re-wiring the plugs on the rear light clusters, I haven't had a chance to get out and do it yet :rasp:

It is really fiddly to start with. Took me ages to figure out how to do it. But simply follow the guide step by step and you'll get there.

Just make sure you pull all the wee plastic clips out at the back of the plugs to allow the wires to come free more easily. This is what stumped me for ages

i think it was really easy to be honest.. the easiest and best looking cosmetic mod you could probably do. the only bit that was a struggle was that one of the electrical blocks on the right light was like stuck in the holder so i had to prize it open with a bit of muscle lol
