I started another thread the other day about my car stalling when coming to a stop. From what i have read on here it looks to be the throttle body? Will get it taken off and cleaned tomo. Any other ideas whilst its in the garage? Any help would be appreciated guys

it starts fine, drives spot on etc etc. Its only when i come to a stop it tries to die or does. Dont get me wrong its far from undriveable as it doesnt happen every time. Annoying is the word id use as everytime i come to a stop im keeping one eye on the revs lol. Starts back up no problem. i have noticed that when i come to a stop it idles around the 500/700 rpm mark. Had the car 8 weeks or so and its allways done that. but only recently has it started to cut out?????????? So as people have said, it may be the ICV or Throttle body? Anyone else experienced similar?

No mate, its an electronic valve - no adjustment.

Buy a new one from Renault and you get it complete and all you have to do is undo the 2 10mm bolts to remove it, but they are more expensive.

Buy one from Ebay and you need to use half the old valve as such, not hard to do and saves you money.

It is situated on the back of your inlet manifold, to the right, and has an electrical pulg on the top and a pipe on the bottom which runs to your inlet pipe

ICV is very easy to remove and replace. The original is rivetted on iirc, so it needs to be drilled off and the new one bolted on.

WTF! It just simply unscrews.

When I replaced mine (same symptoms as OP, by the way) the revs went to a nice steady 5000 rpm. I adjusted it with a screwdriver - don't try it, I got lucky and eventually got it right. I read something about needing to switch on the ignition part way for some seconds to let the new IC valve adjust itself before then starting the engine. Perhaps someone can elaborate or perhaps mine had just part-seized.

That depends if you buy the Renault item or a motorfactors version, the Renault item is a lot more expensive but replaces the whole thing, which bolts on/off, the motorfactor version only replaces "half" and the "half" is rivetted on.
