Ok so I have started uploading pictures with photobucket through my phone and ipad, but it is telling me I've used all my data and I now have to pay, there must be a way to carry on uploading for free?

Get Flickr instead.
You'll not use the free allowance, 1tb iirc and it pisses all over photobucket from what I've read.
