Photoshop CS2: Where/how to buy

Does anyone know the best path to take to buy this?

What I've figured so far:

Full Boxed Version = £500
Upgrade from Photoshop Elements = £430
Upgrade from Photoshop CS, Photoshop 7.0 or earlier = £145

I only have Elements at the moment so it's going to be £430 as it stands. I'm guessing it may be cheaper to track down a full older version of Photoshop and then upgrade. The Adobe website says you can upgrade from "Photoshop CS, Photoshop 7.0 or earlier", so I assume there are no catches with that, but most people I speak to say you need at least version 5.5 to be eligible, anyone know for sure...?

I've found plenty of version 6 on Ebay but I'm never sure about buying on there, especially as some are pretty cheap. Some are about £20, but then others are around £200, I want a legit copy as I want to upgrade it to CS2.

I managed to get a full copy of version 4 a fair few years ago bundled with a cheap scanner, sold along with a upgrade to 5.5, then went to 6 and then jumped to CS2 from there - over the years has not been to bad costs wise.

Not sure what the best route would be today. Not sure if there are any work rounds like the above now today in Computer Mags still.

CS2 has to be activated online by the way.

Check out the Adobe lightroom beta (FREE for now) if its for digital photo work! works great with RAW and jpg - if you find it suits your needs then when it's released it will be far cheaper than CS2.

It's aimed towards professional digital photographers.

I had CS2 last Christmas plus two huge books all about photoshop and I am ashamed to say that I used photoshop once and have never opened the books! I really should make the effort! :)
