Erm this could take a while then. There are plenty of guides online if you do a search. Probably the best place to start tbh. You could use a free online template though, that might be easier for you.

Surely you will want to design your website using HTML?!!!

Photoshop is not really a way of making a website - images for the site yes, but not the site in general?

Is that just me? lol

Erm this could take a while then.

HTML is coding im just designing the layout.I want to use Photoshop to make a mock-up of the basic page structure but have no idea how to use it.If i go on web page and then import an image it just takes over the page and resizes it.

Photoshop doesn't work in a way similar to any other program really. It's quite a steep learning curve, but there are plenty of resources on the net, just google photoshop tutorials.

Yeh but then the whole page resises.I think i need to learn how to use these layers :S do i have a layer for each image and drag them onto the page?

Not just coding! HTML can be used to control the whole layout, including text, borders, links, images etc!!

If you paste an image into your document, it should appear as a new layer. Then click on edit, then select Transform. You can then resize the image without affecting your original document.

You want all those in their own layer.

Make the photoshop page 600pixels wide and then you can worry about exporting it to Dreamweaver once youve got the ideas sorted.

I was going to do it in photoshop but I thought he'd just copy it directly. At least this way he has to do some work himself! lol

Use Fireworks to design your layout, slice it up and export to .css. It is a bit simpler than photoshop but not as many options.

Well no, then you can save each image individually (Save for Web) and then import them into dreamweaver. You can use tables to get it lined up how you want..

I use Photoshop for fiddling with images and Firewoks for doing layouts, Fireworks links straight into Dreamweaver and is much more suited to doing web layouts.

there is endless info online. i learnt web design from scratch from basic html to pure css driven sites, and now much more advanced php, js and ajax based sites.

Photoshop is the main tool, just design in there using layers, then chop it up and put it into divs.
