Pic of my Service page - Whats been done?

  White Evo V
Heres a picture of my service page - I hope you can see it? Please can somebody help me and tell me what exactly has been done? Ive read the information in the service book and a few threads I found doing a search and I have some sort of idea but I would like someone to confirm to me whats been covered since new!

Has the cambelt been done? Thats my main concern!! on the 2nd page, the service done on the 20-08-07 says 'B' service, that would of made the car 5 years old as its an 02 plate, im HOPING that would be the cambelt because as far as im aware its after 5 years on 72k miles, am I right? :S

It will cost just the same, no part of the engine comes apart. So its as easy to do it after as it is now while its in there. If its already been done then it isnt necasery to get it done now (sorry bout the spelling, just cant think how you spell necasery, neccesery, necesary?????) lol

Mines stamped on a seperate timing belt page...
More to the point the most recent stamp 'read performance' is local to me..

Just checked... Timing belt and pulleys has its own page (page 19 in my book)

This page:

UH OH...... :dapprove: No stamps!! Never saw this page! But the 'B' service confuses me, what will of been done with the 'B' service? its after exactly 5 years too so you would have thought they would have done the timing belt? :S

Take a pic, i just looked and my 182 manual is different to that.

As a basic guide, of the top of my head, oil, oil filter, pollen filter every year.
Spark plugs and aux belt at 36k/3yrs
Coolant and brake fluid change at 4 yrs.
Cambelt at 5yrs.

B service just a service of some of the harder wearing parts.

Cambelts aren't part of a regular service, so unless you ask it wouldn't be done at the same time as the service. Thats how I understood it anyway.

I very much doubt the timing belt has been done, as Dan says unless its had the 72k service it would be an added extra, none of those garages bar Milton Keynes would probably have even known the belt was on a 5 yr schedule.

There's a bit in the guide section which details what an "A" "B" and "C" service consist of.

I'm pretty sure Edde just made up A,B,C Service and it's not a official Renault thing.

It gives you a break down of whats included in a 'B' service, the belts arnt there! they are mentioned on page 12 in mine which tells you about additional items to be added to 'A' and 'B' services, its says every 72k miles or 5 years, and mine isnt stamped, so it hasnt been done!

SH*T!!!!!!! More god damn expense! anyone know anyone good and cheap round Leeds and surrounding area! Coz next week il have a supercharged 172 with a timing belt DESPERATLY in need of replacement! I think its got about 65k on now and its 7 years old, its really really needs the belt doing!

  White Evo V
LOL @ supercharging a 172 thats 2yrs overdue its belt change, recipe for disaster!

Your telling me! I never realised it hadnt been done until I had a PROPER look to make sure tonight. RS Tuning are doing it, I know Paul doesnt do timing belts but his dads garage will so he could sort it.

What is a decent price? I realise cheap isnt always the best but after spending over £4k on her in the last few months I want a decent price.

Well you want the full bet kit changed and the aux belt kit and tensioner changed although I realise some elements will be changed/ replaced/ upgraded with the charger install. Using genuine parts expect to pay £600ish.
Most specialist with just do the belt kit with a gates powergrip kit and charge you circa £4-500.

AUX belt has been done though with the supercharger, I just need the timing belt. which companys are good? any reccomendations?

but they have to remove the aux belt when they do the timing belt...

no idea in Leeds, I'm right down south.

  White Evo V
will the supercharger make anything more complex at renault? They wont know what the hell to do will they! lol.

I think im best off just asking Paul if his dad can do it for me while the cars there, before he starts mapping it and we get a big bang! lol.

I would just worry if it went anywhere else wih the charger fitted! Im worried they wouldnt put something back right!!

yeah, best to just get Paul to sort it all. The charger just adds an extra pulley into the aux belt doesn't it? Can't really see how a decent garage could put it back together wrong...

Cheap isn't necessarily best... they need the correct timing tools.

Do they need anything renault specific? I know a guy who always charges me cheap, hes a bit of a family friend. He charged me £120 to put my kevlar clutch in and only £160 to recon my gerabox! This guy is doing my brothers timing belt on his Lupo for £30 if he buys the parts, if he can do the Lupo, he could do my 172, am I right..... or not??

  White Evo V
what specific tools does he need?

this guy is a bit of a wizard with motors, he put 2 v6 engines in an astra van for my mate, one in the front an one in the back, then 6 months later, turboed them, lol. He knows what hes doing but if he needs a specific timing tool for a 172 then I doubt he will be able to do it, I know he does timing belts though, but I want to know its done right!

  White Evo V
if he has the tool I know it will be done right, but is there a specific tool he needs for a clio sport thats different to any other cars timing belt tools? so I can ask him if he has it first

  Lionel Richie
you need

crank locking pin
cam locking tool (aka "the horse shoe")
cam pulley locking tool (you have to loosen the cam pulleys off and rotate the cambelt to equalise the tension on the new belt, otherwise the timing will be off)

  White Evo V
is that specific for a 172 or do you need these for any car? If you need em for any car then he will have them, he did the timing belt last month on my mates evo and hes doing my brothers Lupo belt next week. So if hes done them, can he do mine?

  Lionel Richie
they're specific tools for the clio F4R engine ("mickey mouse" tools exist, but they're a waste of time as they flex/bend)

no tools = job done wrong 10000000%
