Pioneer DEH-P70BT Install

  RenaultSport clio 182
Hi Folks - first post - be gentle.

I've recently got myself a '04 Clio 182 - bought it as a get-to-work and Winter car and a lot of fun it is too. My only complaint was the standard stereo which was rubbish. Therefore, I installed a Pioneer DEH-P70BT yesterday.

Went in with no problems; I spent a fair bit of time reading these forums to make sure I had what I needed to do the install and most importantly retain those OEM stalk controls.

Everything went well - got the unit, Renault stalk control adaptors and iPod control unit from CarAudioDirect and it all went in without fuss(*). The only awkward bit was the lack of space behind the unit for the stalk adaptor box - took a bit of rearranging / fussing to make it all fit.

The good bits - stalk controls work just fine although curiously the next/previous track controls are reversed - no biggie. Sound quality is much improved. The unit plays MP3s and all the rest of it and it's easy to turn off all that swimming dolphins / fireworks malarky so you get a nice clean display.

The really good bits - it has a bluetooth feature whereby you can use the phone handsfree to make and take calls - works perfectly. The unit comes with a wired mic which you put somewhere sensible - I ran it to right hand side roof area just above door closure - where the two plastic plugs are. Wire was easy to run behind trim. You can transfer your phonebook to the headunit so it shows who is calling and you can make calls from the unit too. All while leaving your phone in your pocket - you just get into the car with your phone with you and it all just works - nice.

(*) Anyway, a highly recommended headunit and now to my only question : that Pioneer iPod box requires a permanent live feed from somewhere - where do folks recommend?

Same head unit for me, cant fault it really. Can feel a little cheap compared to an old Pioneer unit I had a few years ago, but a great unit all in all.
