Pioneer Headunit

Hi guys.
Just got this head unit (http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/22/121/61/MVH-150UI/page.html) the other day, its pretty cheap because it can only play from a usb/ipod so no cd player but imo thats a good thing! Anyway its lighter and abit smaller than my old head unit and the install was going pretty good. tested it out and everything works really well, that was until i tried pushing it into the cage and it wouldn't go all the way back. I am pretty sure that this is caused by the wire harness as its a pretty chunky piece of plastic. After an hour trying to re arrange the position of the harness i was getting pretty cold and annoyed!
So my question is how can i get these wires out of the way? Heard of people taking the glove box out to get to it but surely there is an easier way?!
Any ideas?
Cheers guys

I always push my harness to the back and then down, there is loads of free space down there. I had 3 harness blocks at one point. Currently have two.
ah right. the cables don't seem long enough to get them back out of the way but i will go and give it a try.
Thanks mate

Thanks to Gman i managed to get the head unit to slide abit further into the dash but its still not clicking into the cage. litterally about 4mm and i think it would click into place but even with quite abit of force it still doesn't want to go in!

Odd, even down and to the left or to the right which ever side it's on? There should be more than enough space, I know its a pain though as I have had trouble. It is doable though.

realised the problem was the rca lead was getting in the way and stopping it from going back far enough. they stuck out about an inch so i found another rca lead and swapped it over. now it goes back further but still not all the way. it goes in far enough to look alright but its not being held inplace by anything and slides out when i remove the usb stick. will have another go at sorting it out after work tomorrow. At the moment i have tucked the harness in the hole on the left hand side. thinking about removing the glove box so i can get a better look at whats actually going on back there!
thanks for the help mate

Had the same problem, just tuck the wires in separate areas where possible. Iirc I even tucked one up, left and down, then a brave final forceful push to click home.

i always just take the dash off. makes life so much easier because i like to know none of my cables are been stressed so i can position them perfectly with the dash off, put the unit in and put the dash back on.

dash only takes about 15 minutes to remove

is there any way of removing just the center of the dash without removing the entire top half? want to put some better tweeters in but haven't got them yet and want to sort the head unit out pretty soon!

have heard of people removing that backstop thing that is supposed to stop the head unit going to far back but i reckon i would need to remove the dash to do that as well :/

You really don't need to try that hard, removing the dash is a bit extreme IMO

yeah i think so too but already broke one RCA lead trying to install this head unit. never had such difficulty installing a head unit and have installed single DIN units in a punto, focus and corsa. will have another go later after work if i have the time.
