Polishing by hand

Hi all,

I have used AF triple and AG SRP for a while now. They seem to be good products.

Has anyone, any other hand polished products they would recommend?

Matt

The two you're using have very mild cut, mostly filling and cleaning abilities.

you can step up the cut a little by using some pre wax cleansers, or go for a specific cutting compound like GTechniq P1

I've got a bottle of that p1.

What's the deal with it? I've never even opened it.

I never got on with it via DA compared to menzerna, was better with rotary. Great for spot areas by hand. But I can't polish for sh!t so don't take my word for it.

So SRP/tripple will just "fill" swirl marks and has only a mild cut, eventually the swirls will come back when the product fades ? But P1 will remove the swirls for good when used by hand ? (Obviously not expecting a result like using a rotary)

Stp and ultra deep shine have a higher silicone content to fill in scratches and create a no scratch effect ... Try out some dodo juice lime prime and possibly the meguiars ultimate compound followed by their ultimate polish for 22quid the results would be very good pound for pound also finish with a wax if you can on a budget halfrauds are offering 3 for 2 on cleaning products I'd by ultimate compound ultimate polish and gold class wax

This isn't the halfords shopping section, chap. The products you've listed (save for LP) are terrible.

For £22 you can buy P1 and a hand cut pad. Probably a few MFs as well. So OP, I suggest taking that advice...!

Lol, I was browsing through halfrauds yesterday as you do

what would people recommend out of g3 paint renovator, autoglym paint renovator or megs ultimate polish?

or should I be looking at dedicated glazes?

seems to work well with most products.

cleans well, and a fair mix of correction and filling capabilities. Very easy to use

Cheers dave :-)
I got some AF Tripple today through the post which i got from perfectly cleaned

Cheaper than monza who i found a bit pricey.

Less filling than tripple, but more true correction in terms of swirl removal due to the small amount of abrasives in it.

Personally, by hand I'd go with polish with fillers in so SRP (especially the new formula one) is exactly what you need, maybe go for a glaze (Poorboys Blackhole or similar) and then wax. That should leave you with a superb finish by hand.

To actually do full correction by hand would take some serious hard work but as said you'd need something more abrasive to actually remove them. I'd rather wait until I had access to a DA and have a go at them a bit more easily.

Lets face it, swirl marks are corrected for cosmetic purposes so by hand I'd aim to fill by machine I'd aim to correct. :)

To be honest, Alex, I'd whole heartedly agree with that last sentence (if you don't have a machine, or just don't have time).
