polishing the locks in the door



hi guys just wondered what i could use to polish up the door locks on the outer door as looking a bit weathered cheers many thanks for anyones help...autoglym metal polish??
 
cheers guys will this get alot of ground in dirt that has been there many years from previous owners and stuff will have a go only thing that looks a bit s**t on the car...apart from evefything on the car lol

Could always try very fine wire wool with the surrounding area taped up and then some metal polish afterwards...
 
cheers guys but your cars are quite new mine is on a 51 plate so got nearly 6 years of dirt and grime arrrrgggg will it in prinsaple make a nice difference
 
hi everyone tried the toothbrush with metal polish and did not seem to move anything tried sme polish and again moved very little what can i do guys the car is nearly 6 years old and i dont think they have ever been treated properly cheers many thanks

Good pre soak first with something like Meguiars APC or Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner may help.
 
cheers mate does the auto engine cleaner actually harm paintwork if a bit goes on it when a leave a bit on for prep cheers many thanks

It is paintwork safe, just will need resealing/waxing after as the AG will strip the protection/waxes.
 
hi guys quick update the engine cleaner did not do anything si what i did i put a bit of metal polish on an abrasive cloth and very lightly rubbed the muck completley off!! i then went over the area with the resin polish and they look tops now thank god the muck was starting to do my head in nice lovely clean car ..then looks like a turd on the door he he thanks form all your help guys if i keep on top of these they should never get dirty again
