Hi, going to be replacing the rear axle on my rally car soon and will need to rebush the axle that is going in the car. But i cant make my mind up as to weather i should just stick it on with some powerflex bushes or convert it to rose joints using this kit http://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/details.php?itemid=120 .

Any opinions on what would be better?

Its a good kit, stops any sideways movement in the rear, but that ain't no rose joint I'm afraid.
I nearly got excited when I saw the title.

Its spherical bearing which is exactly what a rose joint is except the ones in the kit arent made by Rose bearings ltd, spherical bearings are commonly called rose joints in motorsport as you must know.

Didn't know that powerflex dont make bushes for the rear axle though, just assumed they did as they make them for the front. Pure motorsport kit it is then.

You know what I mean.;)
Anyway,we shall be putting this bearing in our car for next year,we didn't think about it at the time of the build.

Do you think this kit will make the rear end more planted?

What would it do to understeer/oversteer?

Nothing really, just stops any movement in the rear, not that there is a lot anyway. But you will always get some "flex" with rubber bushes.
It will just help to sharpen everything up.

As it will improve the final 1% of a chassis setup.

I'll keep it in mind for a future mod then.

Thanks Tony!

They do a wishbone kit now aswell which i think i might get too, they also do a nice top mount setup with strutbrace and rear axle strengthening kit. I may aswell just get next months wages sent straight to pure motorsport rather than my own account haha.

Just curious but what else do you need for rallying apart from full cage with door bars, plumbed extinguishers, elec cut off, do seats and belts need to be in date for national events ?
Cheers

All cars log booked after 2009 need to have in date seats and belts, all cars from 2012 will need to have them in date so not too long now, you need a fuel sampling valve if the car is injection, safety film on the glass or polycarb windows, tank guard, plus some other stuff. Its all in the blue book on the MSA website.
