Poly windows and fibreglass boot

What are the weight savings on the Clio from a set of poly windows (Found a value of 5kg for the fronts but what about the rear?) and a fibreglass tailgate with full internals.

Also can the tailgate be used with the standard lock and hinges?

My fibre glass boot weights 4.5kg bare. The polys weight half what glass does.

I know that doesn't answer your question but thought it might help if no one else does.

I don't see why you couldn't use the std lock and hinges, but I haven't fitted mine yet so couldn't be sure. I'm planning to use the std hinges but with aero catches instead of the lock.

Front door glass: 3.5kg each.
Rear qtr glass: 3.5kg each.
Rear heated screen: 7.5kg.

Front polycarb: 2kg each.
Rear qtr polycarb: 1.5kg each.
Rear screen polycarb: 3kg.

Thanks! I just saw those in another post!

They're weights from a 172 cup with thinner glass, so I assumer would there be more saving with the other models?

The screen is only different because it doesn't have the rain sensors on for the auto wipers. The front door glass on the cup is allegedly thinner, but I'm not entirely sure I believe a word of it. It's a lot of effort for a pretty insignificant gain.

I assume that's not taking into consideration the electric window motors? Also surprised the front windows are only 3.5kg, seemed a lot more when i swapped mine over to poly!

All in the mind, because you want them to be heavy to warrant changing them.

Strange what your head does.

I've just measured the thickness of my 172 cup windows and my 182 with cup packs and the 172 cups are 0.6mm thinner lol! 3.8 versus 3.2 mm.

  172 Cup
I think it is only the windscreen that is different (172 cup has the 1.2 screen), the other glass is the same.
Valuable knowledge for another day.
My Cup has a repaired chip but sooner or later or if it gets cracked I'll need to replace it and I was scared it have to put a horrible full weight screen in (we couldn't have that now could we?)
Actually I've always wondered, does polycarb not mist/frost as bad as glass and thus compensate for the lack of heatedness?
