Evening,

Just sold my weekend car and have pretty much decided on getting a 172/182.

The car will only be used on the odd weekend, possibly the odd trackday.

Mods don't phase me as all my past cars have been played with alot (ITR,RST,Corsa TB, Astra Turbo etc) and I'm good mates with Paul @ RS Tuning but ideally would prefer a relatively standard one (bar bolt on bits. I'm a compotent mechanic so don't mind getting involved but don't want a car that spends more time broke than working.

Really don't want a silver or black one (sorry silver owners).

Spent weeks looking on Ebay/Gumtree/here/Pistonheads but there are literally HUNDREDS to choose from :-\ I know the belts are important, as is service history. Those seem to be the really important bits. Not bothered about cup or not. Age; ideally no older than 2002 so phase 2's only.

Now the tough(ish) bit. I've got £2k cash to spend - if anyone reading this can point me in the direction of suitable cars for sale that, from the ad, look worth looking at I'm open to your expertise.

I'm based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire so pretty accessible to anywhere but I'm not travelling hundreds of miles (been to Edinburgh to look at a car before and not doing those sort of distances again).
