Potential problems with brakes!?

  Pikey Truck
I have a prob them with my brakes, i think they need bleeding... but i been told it may need a new master cylinder, the pedal goes quite far down, and to brake hard the wheels lock... which makes it skid...!

If i pump the brakes before starting then hold them down and start the engine it does as it says in the haynes manual!

any ideas or shall i just bleed it and see wat happens.

also it pulls to the drivers side went braking hard...!?? :s

Yep I'm say its just bleeding it does make a huge difference. Thats one reason why you've a problem on one side. I take it you've just had new pads as you realy should bleeed the system when you chnage pads else this happens although after time or hard braking the fluid does go off.
Just make sure you stick some good new fluid in the car.
If the master clyinder had gone the pedal would have little resistance and the brakes wouldn't work if the assiatnce had gone it would be like trying to push a brick.

how dya bleed the brakes on a valver then mate?
Dead easy.
Go to halfords and buy there one person pressure eazy bleed kit under £20 from memory.
Then buy some decient fluid preferably 2 bottles as if you run out its annoying you should only need one though.
To bleed them
1) Assemble the pressure bleeder as per instuctions fill with fluid etc.
2) With a pipe off each bleed nipple into a bottle (helps to see if fluids flowing) loosen the bleed nipple and watch the fluid drain out I'd leave it to drain out a fair bit as you'll find bubbles hidden sometimes aven after you've had a few seconds solid good flow.
3) Close the nipple when you've a good flow and move to the next wheel.
4) You may need to fill the bottle once if you'r leaving it to bleed out for a bit so having somone watch the fluid in the reservior can be handy.
5) If your car has ABS then bleed the system left front right front left rear right rear. It shouldn't make any difference so long as you bleed the caliper of any air what order but I found with ABS it did (although I may have just been to lazy to fully bleed the back brakes ie leave them till i get a good flow)
6) Clean everything down brake fluid nasty stuff wear gloves wash the cars wheels with water as for the bleeder stick it in a clean bad I'n not wash it just incase you get any water on them and put it in the system next time you use the bleeder.
If you have a friend at a garage or don't fancy doingg it a back strret garage can do it for say £20~£40 they have more expensive pressure bleeders which are much better using my mates £280 one is amazing it makes a much better seal plus holds liters fo fluid and gives you noises when its low and runs of a battery but I'd prefere to get annoyed with the cheap kit.
You can do it in under an hour. 40 minutes more likly.
