What sort of RPM range do you find you get the most performance from your Clio? If you were racing on track when would you change gear?

no point in running right up to the limit in every gear.

Not always true on track. Sometimes you want to hold on longer to avoid upsetting the balance in a corner. Some people run 7800-8000rpm rev limits for this reason, as it gives greater flexibility.

If you plot the tractive force curves (all you need is the torque curve and gear ratios) you will see that its a waste of time running to the rev limit in every gear. The ideal change up point will depend on the gear. The only exceptions would be if your very near a braking zone or don't want to change mid corner.

My 197 limiter cuts in right on the red line whereas my CTR had a redline of 7800rpm and a limiter of about 8250rpm as standard. Those few extra revs really helped when cornering.
