Power Steering

  RS 200
Had a bit of a weird thing happen this morning. As the windscreen was frosted over I sat in the car with the heater on to melt the ice for about 10 minutes, but when I came to pull off the drive which requires full right lock, it seemed like there was now power steering. So I turned the car around about 50 yards up the road and parked it back on my drive, so that I could check the tyres to make sure they werent flat, but by the time I had done the return 50 yards the steering seemed to be almost back to normal. Anyway the tyres were fine so I pulled of the drive again and everything seemed OK and felt normal, again there were no probs tonight when I came to drive home from work.

Was this just a one off, or does the power steering fluid not like frosty conditions?

The car is a 2005 Dynamique and this has been the first frost of the year, so I guess I'll see what its like in the future.

Was thinking of seeing what the dealer thought.
Any Suggestion?

Probably the seals and lubrications just not happy mine wern't happy this mornign either. If it does it a few moe times I'd take it in. It might be difficult to recreate if they don't have a cold night though.

2005 dymanique has electric power steering and wants over 14 volts due to the cold your alternator battery may have not been able to deliver it , happens on mine often but due to my dodgy wiring

Thanks guys,

Could have been a power issue as I had my SATNAV head unit on (which has a seperate processing unit - Pioneer AVIC-X1), origin b2, AirCon (to shift the mist) the fan on full and I think the lights came on auto, so quite a lot of drain when standing still, which would explain when I got moving gave the alternator chance to cook up some more juice.

Cheers
Chris
