Powerbook G4 problem

Thought you guys might have some more experience of this than me.

Got a Macbook G4 (not mine) and when powering it on I hear the chimes, then the backlight comes on but there is no video/picture. The keyboard is responsive (caps light comes on etc) and it is charging fine etc..

The apple light is on the back so the backlight is deffinatly working, just no picture. I don't have a fly lead handy to try the video out port.

Any ideas what could be wrong ? I'm thinking along the lines of video chipset or a break in the LCD screen cable but I can't open the laptop at the moment as I don't have any torx drives at work.

LCD ribbon fail?

Does it have a DVI out, that would answer a question.

Top left one is the cable that would connect to the vga port, there isn't a dvi port that I can tell.

Its a mini dvi £15 for an adapter.

im 99% sure its the ribbon
