Powerflex correct measures

  clio sport 172
What are the correct measures for a ph1 172 from powerflex

Front Anti Roll Bar Bush 23mm

Front Anti Roll Bar Bush 25mm

Front Anti Roll Bar Outer mount 22mm

Front Anti Roll Bar Outer Mount 23mm

ok thanks. i've fitted coilovers so is it better to put powerflex bushes on wichbones and arb or replace them with oem-standard bushes.

depends on application. oem wishbone bushes can't be bought on their own, you need to buy the complete wishbone from renault for £75 (x2) (but comes with ball joint too). you could try getting aftermarket wishbone bushes on ebay but this is likely a false economy. powerflex wishbones bushes need welding in.

powerflex bushes = less flex, more stress on components, harsher ride, last longer, i presume a more focused drive
oem bushes = more flex, less stress on components, more forgiving ride, won't last as long, i presume a more comfortable ride

unless you are planning on keeping the car for a good few years i doubt you would ever have to change them again, even if you want oem.

i had this dilemma a while ago. i went with oem arb bushes as they were cheaper than powerflex and they would be easier (i presume) to fit.
for wishbone bushes, i plan to go powerflex, but only because you can't buy the bushes separately from renault.

so for everyday driving (even with coilovers fitted) not really necessary to go for powerflex...the oem bushes will be to fine, right?

i would say yes. but you should probably wait for someone who has coilovers fitted to post their opinion

What about this - do you really need a small spot weld between sleeve and wishbone, or not?
i mean can something happen if i don't weld it?

from Powerflex :
"Press the metal outer sleeves supplied squarely into the clean, vacant holes in the wishbone. This must be done starting
from the inside of the wishbone, pushing outwards. At this point you can chose whether or not to use a small spot weld
between the sleeve and wishbone to secure the metal outer sleeve. This is advisable if the vehicle is being used for Track or Motorsport driving"

I presed mine in using a ball joint press which you can get for arount £45... I dident bother to spot weld them there and they havent moved a mm... Have had them in for a year now...

Powerflex Inner ARB Bushes
Powerflex Outer ARB Bushes
Powerflex Wishbone Bushes
AST Coilovers
Whitline Adjustable Rear ARB
Omp Rear Strut Brace
OMP Front Strut Brace

With the above and your lathing, the handaling is out of this world...

I had all the powerflex kit once, now only antiroll bar plus dog bone. no difference, maybe a little more precise handling but hard to tell if you're human
the ride is the same, I heard all sort of stupid stories like "it will make your teeth hurt" and so on. maybe on a normal car but if you have a rs clio you won't feel a thing. and they'll last forever
money well spent from my view
edit: I remember the cup/cup pack 182's had the anti roll bar thicker than the rest of the rs range. I'll measure a friends ph2 172 bar and see
but for sure the cup/cup pack 182's are 25 inner 23mm outer
outer for the 172 ph1/2 except 172 cup is 22 mm, not very sure of the inner diameter but I'll check it out

i think you don't need to do that mate, i've got mine set (wishbones, arb, dogbone) for cca. 1000 km. no issues. you just need to push them in correctly.

you do need to weld them, they will eventually cause wear on the wishbone or subframe side. i've seen pics of what happens when you don't tack weld them. just trying to find some...

edit: welding just for the wishbones, the others don't need it
