PowerFlow System - HAD IT DONE TODAY!!

  RS Clio 200
Had my powerflow cat back system built and put on the 172 today. Here are some pics:

I have not had time to do full testing yet, but it sounds truely awesome, although a little loud, but i went for full out power gain. Power gain seems awesome. Did a couple of dual carriage way runs on the way home from having it fitted, and came up with these timings. These were also done in the wet, so im pretty chuffed.

30mph -> 60mph: 4.9 seconds
60mph -> 80mph: 4.2 seconds
30mph -> 100mph: 14.7 seconds

I need to do some more testing in the dry at some point, and i do need some new tyres, so i would hope i could knock a few more tenths off those times.

I'm not expecting something stupid - but the power gain is VERY noticable.
Its gone from the standard 172 very restricted system to a 2.25inch through system.

I have to admit i didnt do the timings before i had it done, so i dont know what i have gained in timings, but it feels quicker, so im happy. Me mate at work has a standard one so ill try his and compare them off against each other.

Oh, and it set me back £360 all in.

waste of time ... no 2 172's are the same

say what u wish - just been out testing now the traffic has died out

0mph -> 60mph: 6.4 seconds (slightly damp road, with wheel spin and a limiter hit in 1st :eek: )
0mph -> 100mph: 16.4 seconds (same as above)

RR = rolling roaded

looks like a nice system !! whats the noise like, the back box looks bigger then mine, this would mean it is slightly quiter would it not ?

im thinking of getting mine rolling roaded just to actually see what a decat and system does to the figures on a standard induction.

i'm thinking of a maxogen,,, you on standard induction ?

  RS Clio 200
oh right, sorry - no i aint had it done.

Im on standard induction yes - although ill be looking to upgrade that soon enough.

The system i have now is a straight to back box, no middle box at all, so its still a very loud sound. Its louder than i wanted really, but for the power gain i have i cant complain.

It is also NOT de-cat'd. I did want it done, but the powerflow guy recommended it not be done, stating i would experience problems in the future and "the cat is there for a reason"..... so i decided not too.

In official testing the powerflows give the most powergain anyway, and thats without a decat, compared to others with a decat.

I have to say though, with a decat it would be far too loud. Each to their own though, i guess someone would think mine is too quite still. LOL

Im completely chuffed though. £360 well spend i say. I cant stop:D

hey fella that looks the mutts nuts what size pipe is it and did they do the cut out for you and does it look like a pro job i want to take my magnex off and get a powerflow just like you got cos the magnex is a twin pipe and fits under bumper but i really want a single pipe fitted into bumper.

if your after out and out power gain why did you goto powerflow?? YozzaSport or the ShedMotorsport or Orbisound systems are the best ones available for power gains

How did you come up with these figures?

System looks nice, but powerflow systems are more about show than go in my experience.

abacus ;)

Its well known that exhasuts dont make a huge difference on 172s unless its the orbisound( YS is a rep iirc) or the btb. Looks good though, and bet it sounds faster ;)

I have used powerflow before. Not saying your exhaust is the same but mine was bloody awful. Boomy as hell, the welds were absolute crap on it. They seemed to rush the job, didn't get the tailpipe sitting correctly. Overall a crap experience from my point of view.

If you want quality, care and precision taken over work, good gains, decent welds, a system that will last you a while, friendly service, not a bodge then i'd recommend visiting Charlie @ Prospeed.

Depends where you go mate, my first powerflow was a peice of dog s**t.. sounded good but rusted and had terrible welds on it.

Took it to another dealer (RJM) who replaced the entire system and upgraded me to full proper (no rust) stainless steel and did a proper good job.. very happy with it now.

I've used powerflow 3 times with 3 different dealers and all have been crap. Maybe i've just picked 3 crap dealers.

thing is though i dont think the standard system is that restrictive..... look at all the people on here who've had replacement exhausts.... had it rolling roaded before and after, and actually lost power

granted its made from kitkat wrappers, but for the harmonics of the engine etc its good imo.

well its faster, and with that im happy, and it looks good too.

if you really must know the times were done with someone in the car with a stopwatch, 3 runs and the averages taken.

Problem with powerflow is no 2 places are the same.

Had mine made up at a powerflow place here, cost £200 and danpl6 said the welds on it were very good :)

Dan. If you are interested in the exhaust come and get it. It was a b*****d to get off and i wouldn't take any money until you'd got it fitted. If you want to see pictures of it on the car with the old exhaust on pm me. This was Ant 1's clio. There are pictures on here somewhere. Digi camera not working at moment. If you were happy with it I would only want a nominal amount.

Had my cat back fitted a week ago at Top Gear Doncaster. [Powerflow]

Quality seems ok - had replica of standard system but in stainless. Wanted it quiet as poss, but its a bit boomy at low speed/low revs. Bit disappointed in that respect but loves to be revved. £230 fitted, so cheaper than the renault one by a hundred and odd quid!!

Only difference to the OEM renault exhaust is the 'resonator box' is not fitted.

Right behind cat is the first silencer, then on the up-sweep before going over the rear axle, Renault fit a 'resonator box' which looks like another silencer. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS DOES???

Bloke at top gear said there not necessary on a free flow stainless system. Must do something though?

Then i've obviously got the main back box silencer, which is quite large to keep it quiet(er)

it stops the boom (resonace) imo, as most aftermarket systems dont have it, and resonate like a b*****d
