It works really well.

I was a bit unsure at first, then a friend picked up a pair of the Netgear HD ones (top end model)

They say they are 200Mbit but what they really mean each one has a 100Mbit port LOL.....advertising for you ;)

Anyway, we hooked them up to my network, speed, awesome. Able to play HD content from my server from the other end of the network.

I quite like the Netgear set.

If you want to look at other speeds, look at reviews/comparison tables. Seems to be a big diff in actual speed obtained from some companies! Some better then others.

I had guessed, altho there tech support didnt know how it worked lol
"we just get both ports sir and add them together to get the 200" ;)

Be interested to here this for Streaming HD content. Dont fancy drilling 2 foot thick walls to run cables.

my problem is i have a 30ft cat5 cable running across the living room floor up the stars etc to the pc from the router and i keep tripping over it and it looks a mess

but it has to be able to stream HD

It does work well yea.. we've used it at work a few times when WiFi was just awful.

On the 80Mb plugs I got, I was managing to get about 60Mb...

Some certify silly speeds.. never used them though.. but the technology is very good.

OP: if you're going for them, get yourself to www.solwise.co.uk and get some of the HD adaptors from there instead. Better quality and cheaper than the Netgear stuff and (in my experience) work a little faster. Also based on Homeplug/Homeplug AV standards, rather then Netgear's own "we want our product out there first, damn the consequences" /standards/.

My mate recently got given a set of Linksys ones (can't remember the make and model) to try out for his workplace. They worked really well. He powered and networked his Xbox 360 through the one spare plug socket he had without any problems whatsoever.
Probably not a good idea to use them in a mission critical environment though... you'd have the cleaners unplugging them so they can plug a hoover in.
