Okay so I am looking for a rough price of how much I could get a 172 for? After a fairly average one, will be looking into converting it into a track car.

Also second question, would I need to insure this car to be able to drive on the track for example if I keep it in my garage the whole time then whack it onto a trailer drive to the track and then only use it for driving round the track. Would I need to be insured for this?

Nope you wont need insurance, MOT or tax

Ph1 or Ph2? You'll get a bit a tatty one for £1k but it doesn't matter if you're tracking it.

You'll need insurance but not tax.

I just picked up a 172 cup on a 53 plate, Stolen recovered, Someone has also poured brake fluid on the roof and bonnet so laquer has peeled, Paid £950, Just had the cambelt, engine mounts and a full service a couple of months ago, Should be ideal for track,

I thought you didnt need insurance for trackdays, Can he not sorn the car and just trailer it there? correct me if im wrong.

I thought new legislation requires you to insure any car in your name whether its SORN or otherwise? Could be wrong but im sure i got a letter of the DVLA when i bought my 172??

I qoute "Anyone who does not intend to insure their car must register it as off the road, much the same as with road tax." So I should be fine if its sorn'd??

If the car is SORN then it doesn't need insurance. If it is taxed it MUST be insured
