Privilege Insurance

Just got my BEST 182 quote with them, £1339 per year full comp protected NCB.

Thats 21 year old male, 4 NCB, 3points.

Are they any good? Are they a reliable company (i.e. one of the big names?). Ive just never heard of them!

Seen alot of them advertising on television. Annoying adverts, but look like a fairly professional company.

Always check the Excess, as thats what Adrian F(l)ux use to get your premium down.

Youll probably have a normal excess, plus a young driver excess on top of that...

Priveledges adverts guarntee they will beat your renewall fee, as long as u have 4year ncb and are going fully comp..

have you tried adding on additional drivers? if i added me old man, and th misses in as named drivers i save 300 quid a year!! I havent told them mind, they arent driving me valver!!!

Yip, I changed from Tesco to Privilege last month as they were around £200 cheaper ! Paying around £600 for an 02 172, very happy. They are a big company and very reputable. I am pretty sure they have the same underwriters as Tesco and Direct Line.

As for adding people to your policy, as long as they live at the same address then do it, saves you loads. If they dont live with you then it adds to the cost, that is how it worked with me anyway.

hip spasm -

Privilege are (or certainly used to be) the Performance arm of Direct Line, so theyre huge! They were, and I think still are based in Leeds City Centre, as I went in to the offices once to sort summat out on my insurance. They were very good...

Huge company, you shouldnt have any probs with em

cheers

James.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think ill go with them as they are around £180 cheaper than direct line, my next closest company being Tesco at around £1800!

I already have added my GF to my policy (at a different address) and she saved me around £400!

I had nothing but trouble with Privilege Insurance. I wrote off a 2001 306 Dturbo with no-one else involved, no damage to property etc and it took them 4 1/2 months to pay me off. I was £10,000 out of pocket for that time.

Sounds like it might be an isolated case, but I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

guys, i told u b4, tesco, direct line, and priviledge r all provided by the same comapny, uki, which used to b part of the direct line group, isnow rbs insurance. and in answer to your question hip_spasm, yes, they r a reputable company, now part of one of the largest insurance companies in europe, certainly in britain, and do a lot of business

Privilege = No modifications allowed to policy holders under the age of 25 as far as im aware...

(They did let me off due to the fact id held a policy with them for 3 years)

  Full Fat 182 - Was..

yeah Privilege are great, im with them same state as hip spasm, bit cheeper tho. been with them since i started driving and they arte great, never been beaten on a quote. The are part of direct line same as tescos.

Cant mod the car coz im under 25, but they wont notice a super chip and a modded air box, and if i crash it it will def at speed so there wont be much left of it to inspect!!!
