Problem on cold start

Tonight when I finished work, I had to start my clio about 6 times. Everytime I started it, the revs would be hunting before the engine died. When I revved the engine it was very hesitant but would then pick up and seem to rev normal. After I managed to get the engine to warm up a bit the problem seemed to go away and as I was driving home it was just as quick as ever. When I got home I switch the engine off and tried starting it a couple of times, no problems. But now, after the car has been stood for a couple of hours, Ive gone to start it again and the problem is back. Any ideas???
Some one has suggested that it may be the air sensor? Where would this be??

had a similar prob which turned out to be the cold start switch. Although on my old 1.4rt it seemed to run a little rough to start with (that is after i eventually got it started) and then once warm it ran fine - turned out the head gasget had gone!!! Water was building up when the car was stood still but once you got it going the water seems to burn off or something
