Problem with dealer

i bought my 2003 spec 1.4 on the 21.10.02 the day the 2003 range was launched, was off that day sick ;) from work so thought i would go buy a clio.

took delivery 30.11.02 and two weeks after buying i noticed i only had 6 months road tax, wasnt worried at all as i had all the paper work, order invoice which showed car would come with 12 months.

i have been trying since to get the 6 months tax out of the b******s since then, the branch i bought it from has closed and the other branches aint interested saying i need to speak to the guy who sold me the car, he is know in charge of a honda franchise for the same company, i have spoken to him and he is i will send a cheque, letter etc which never arrive.

now i know its only just over £60 but i am now wondering whether it would be best to raise a small claims action against the dealers for the cost of the tax, interest and also the phone calls, postage etc.

anyone got a view/comment on what i should do?

Report the problem to Reno UK customer services. If you look at the Clio brochures Im sure in small print the UK list price includes plates, delivery and 12 month road fund license.

Wouldnt it cost more than £60 tho to try and make a claim against them? cant see it being worth it financially

Cant suggest anything else other than finding the top dog at renault customer services and bombarding him with calls/emails until he gives you the money just for some peace!

well if i raise a small claims action which would be in a scottish court and it went against me most the other side could get would be £75 in costs, i have a contract/order which says 12 months tax which is signed by their salesman, it must be breach of contract and i honestly cant see how i could lose the case

yeah i cant see how you cud lose really - id say do it - the dealers get away with messing too many people about these days! :)

Aly, was it AC you got your car from? Cos I had exactly same problem when I bought mine new. 6 months tax was all the cheap f**ks gave me, despite the quoted prices being inclusive of 12 months road fund licence, whatever that means! I never took it any further, but I wish now I had. I hope you go for it and sue the b******s and hopefully theyll stop this rip-off. Looking at it one way, if they scam everyone out of £60 who ever buys a car off em, it all adds up to a heck of a lot of nefariously obtained profit!

Scams like this add to their profits as do these so-called Diamond Brite load of rubbish, which costs them £10 and they get £250 from the conned customer!

Is that the special wax coat that they bang on about???

Bloke at the body shop told me it was a total waste of money..

luckily i know the scottish legal system very well as work with it every day and father is in the legal business, i called Renault today to confirm who taxed the car and they confirmed dealer responsible for taxing car but it should have been 12 months, my key evidence is the contract for the order of the car which is signed and dated by dealer and myself.....i honestly cant see a way that i could lose!

same as supagard, i got my car done for £125, car was fully cleaned inside and out, alloys cleaned and tyres dressed, interior and carpet protector applied and this paint sealent sh*te as well, and dealers through in some extras such as white sh*te all over the black trim and a few scratches on the roof!

just got a full supagard pack which has paint sealent, trim protector, carpet protector, seat protector, window security tags and return key thingy for £30

Hope you sort this out and get your money....if more people made a fuss, the service would be better all round :D

Wouldnt let anyone else clean my car, its got sssssoooo many layers of zymonol on it, I dont think anything will get though!!!! :D smells good to...

i will write one final letter to dealers threatening court action and see what happens, if nothing in 14 days will raise proceedings against them and also write to the head cat of renault customer services and tell him that Parks are a bunch of monkey shagging unwashed tw*ts and why let a dealer have three franchises in a 10 mile zone....tw*ts

Can you actually get layers of wax on your car? I would have thought that each time it is polished, the previous layer gets rubbed away, leaving just the newest layer of polish.

Well said Jeremy! It is too easy for sales guys to persuade buyers, in particular the easily conned older folk, that their car will be better protected with this nonsense! We all give our cars plenty of TLC with good quality waxes, and personally I think that is all it needs and probably once you start waxing your car, it must surely rub off this very costly Supagard, Diamond Brite stuff.
