Problem with induction kit

has any one had this problem. Basicly the induction kit is not making any noise what so ever. The induction kit works iv tryed it on my mates car. It is correctly installed so what is up with it?

Is the IK connected to the adpater plate via some hosing or is it connected directly?

directly, its a k&n it came with the little plate to attach it to the airbox
