Problems with my newly bought Clio!

  Clio Sport 182
Hi guys and gals, this is my first post after lurking around for a while, anyway I've just bought a cheap 182 which needs the dephaser doing with the intention to make it into a fast road car. So the problem, well I've got the usual juddering and backfiring under hard acceleration but only in 4 & 5 at low revs. I've changed: spark plugs, HT leads, coil pack and lambar sensor but it's still there? Anything else I should be look at? Fuel filter? As it only had 4 miles left in the tank when I picked it up. Cheers in advance!

Did you buy new parts or used?
If you bought new what quality of parts did you buy?
I've tried cheap HT leads before and they don't seat correctly.

Genuine ones from Renault.

What he said :). I have had Magnecors not seat right. On my RST I have little choice with getting good quality leads so have to have the Magnecors...

Genuine and possibly Beru all of the way. Bosch leads IME tend to be so so for aftermarket bits.

Soooo... A friend of mine just said disconnect the MAP sensor (the one on the left of the intake pas your looking at it) and see if it runs any better. It ran perfect, so does this mean the map sensor need replacing?

Well he said it could be one of a few things, because by unplugging the map sensor it's making the ecu go into default settings. It was just to make sure it wasn't the coil pack, HT leads or the spark plugs. So I ask again, will it be the map sensor that's faulty or is it likely to be something else like the lambda?

I've havent got my scanner thingy with me at the moment (working away) so can't see till the weekend if it is the map sensor I presume the reading won't register at all or will fluctuate like mad?
