protecting chrome

whats the best way of protecting chrome wheels? dont worry, i havent gone all bling, my uncle has a set on his Bentley and i said that someone on a clio forum will know best. he doesnt believe me.

Are they actual chrome or do they have some clearcoat on them ?

Either way as long as you only use a mild abrasive to polish them you will be fine. Autoglym Super Resin and Extra Gloss and then top with a cleaner free wheel sealant like Poorboys or Swissvax Wheel Sealants.

No much different to normal wheels in terms of protection.

Wire wheels are a different kettle of babies tho!

I cleaned, polished and sealed my wheels yesterday and there seems to be some sort of contamination on the chrome lip... It looks like dirt but no matter how much you clean it it doesn't come off and if you rub your fingers over it; it feels all gritty...

Any suggestions??

Can you get some pics?

It sounds like the metal has become etched. I had polished lips on my old 309 GTi wheels and for some reason this happened to just one of them. My metal polisher said it was down to bad casting, they would need to machine polished again to remove it.

Heard great things about the above but not tried it myself.

Yeah i will get some pics today if i can... on the one wheel you can't really see it but you can feel it. And the other wheel it looks like dirty has ran down the lip but when you rub it, it won't come off. They're both rear wheels aswell :S

Carlack 68 is a good product followed up with some collinite should give good protection
