Protecting front dampers

  Clio Trophy
Hello

so basically the last owner had them refurb'd in 2012 but did not get them powder coated, i only do 6-8k a year so i do not imagine they will need another refurb doing any time soon, i do not to remove them, but i want to give them a coat of something to help last a bit longer, what would you recommend doing with them? i do have a set of cup dampers, so could swap them out for a bit and get them sprayed propperly but i would be worried about the paint shop doing any potential damage, knocking them about

taking in account the cost of these things...i'd want to have them zincplated and then powdercoated......but that would probably involve complete dissasembly....:S

some kind of rust inhibotor first, and then some kind of rust inhibiting paint?

  A special one.
There is a paint called "Por 15" its bloody great stuff, miles better than hammerite.

If you get it on your hands then it takes weeks to come off, google it.

looks like good stuff, where do you get yours from, google seems to be very limited for choices

Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 is good stuff too. Silver smooth Hammerite on too as colour coat (perfect match for Sachs silver) then clear coat. I then spray motorbike spray thing (can't remember name) that's used on bikes that are used in winter, over that as an extra coat.
