How do you change the colour of wheels on PS?

select it, then alter brightness/contrast settings. that should get you going for starters.

to add colour use the variations tool, then hue/saturation.

The trick to a good photoshop IMO is all in the selecting - the more time you spend selecting things or 'cutting them out' - whatever you want to call it, the better the end result will be.

To change the wheel colour select around the wheel taking time to rotate and shift the selection if neccessary to get a good fit around the alloy, and then go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation. You can simply lower the lightness to make them darker or go crazy and using the hue slider give them a colour.

thanks for the info guys, both helpful. Which tool do you prefer for cutting out/selecting?

I use a fair few - whichevers best for the situation though really. the best tool to use in general when cutting out complex shapes - like the outline of a car or a wing mirror for example is the polygonal lasso. Obviously though, when cutting out a circle like a wheel use the circular tool - if the selection doesnt fit exactly then drag out an oblong and then right-click and choose transform selection - that way you can manipulate your selection for a perfect fit.

I really like both, im probably swaying towards the anthracite though, not to keen on the wheels being darker than the tires :S

Although im still very open to opinions, so the question is black or dark anthracite?

Mods, any chance of a poll?

^^^ Maybe, topgeartom any chance you can do three variations of the second picture, say light anthracite, dark antracite and like a matt black, sorry to be a pain in the arse.

Will be much appreciated :D
