PS3 has sold 1m units quicker than PS1 and PS2!

To be fair though, it's only off the back of how good the previous two consoles were, so it makes sense that they've shifted so many PS3's

I wonder what percentage of PS3 owners are upset that there are hardly any good games available. I'm sure there are many gutted about their value for money factor

Btw i'm not pro 360 or PS3, just thought a pro PS3 thread needed some balance hehe

I will buy a PS3 when they represent good value for money

Im netural to both consoles,

But...

Since the ps1/ps2... population has increased and so has the gaming scene... so more people would buy more consoles anyway. This is not therefore very fair comparison.

They should have compared the poercentage of the population who already have a ps1 who bought ps2 with the percentage of population who already have a ps2 who bought a ps3 etc...

they hinted in the article that they also sold 1m units quicker than their competitors so it is pretty fair.

i don't feel upset, the two games i hae are very good and the 12 bluray movies are amazing, i play on it more than my 360.

I'm not upset at all, I knew the game releases would be slow until autumn. Rainbow 6 Vegas out soon though which will be cool.

For now I'm playing Forza 2.

So it seems its doing better than people think, maybe its not all that expensive and over priced afterall!

Sony, Microsoft & Nintendo can charge what they want for there consoles, knowning full well that idots will spend stupid amounts of money for them.

I bet if they released the PS3 for £1k people would still spend there money. Money seems to be worthless!.

Who has the power here?. Us as consumers or the big companies?.

When I bought my first 360 (on launch day) I spent over 500 quid on it.. that was a 360 with 3 games + mem card etc.. I would say the PS3 is good value for money right now !

but it isn't over priced, thats the point, for the spec of the unit, its capabilities and function is it good value, this is what people seem to be able to lack getting their head around, just because its base price is more expensive than the 360, it offers more and if you were to make the 360 the same spec as the ps3 (which a lot of people have) then it would cost the same or more so its all relative, the ps3 comes fully specced, the 360 needs money spending on it after purchase making it 'seem' better value.

I think the idiots are the ones who still fail to realise it is good value for money, its back to the same old argument, there isnt much noticeable difference between the ps3 and 360...yet, but what is the difference in prices on both launch days, i genuinely dont know £150 or something??

So for that £150 you get a console, arguably better, certainly no worse than an xbox 360 plus you get a proper good blu-ray player, how much did one of them cost at launch??

Having said that, i bought 3 games at launch day and now have 8, no idea why as i only get about 2 hours to play it a week while the games are great, i am, at present disappointed in the number of titles, however i sleep soundly knowing this is sony we are talking about and in due course there will be plentiful, even for someone like me who is willing to spend £50 for 30 minutes fun.

BD standalone player at launch was at least £850, still over £550

So there we have it then, its like getting a half price blu-ray player with a games console flung in for free with bluetooth, wifi and all them other gadgets i havent figured out yet.

plus the ps3 can upgrade its firmware unlike a lot of standalone BD players which will have a problem soon when more discs are using the new BDJ standard.
