still tempted by another 197... purely for the white goodness.

Tempted by the R26R Lee?

Not really. I had a decent drive, but the harnesses just wouldn't be practical for me driving in and out of Birmingham, and I still prefer high reving N/A engines, although the Megane pulls like a train from so low down and never lets up, where I prefer a bit of screaming and more action at the top of the rev range. The low speed ride is harsh. Oh and there's no stereo. It's a serious weapon, but not for me. Now if they applied the same changes to the Clio, I'd be first in line.:D

Plus there's a credit crunch on, and I can't afford one. lol

Yawn, Gettin Bored of these now!

Yeah, because there's a lot of pictures of R26.R's on Cliosport.

If you're so bored, don't bother looking or commenting!!

Reckon a spoiler of similar design to the one on the Megane would look spot on.

I quite like the K-tec one, but would like it even more if they had a brake light in the gap, as the V6 one does, rather than just going over the one on the boot.

I thought you might say that, and as I'm following your car history I'm inclined to agree about similar changes to the 197 being the pull to the Mk3 in waiting for. Strangely I don't find the harnesses in my Trophy as annoying as I expected on the occasions where I use the Trophy everyday.

both lovely cars.

Lee your cup is crying out for a spoiler of sorts!

Shhhhhsh! That's a swear-word to Lee. He'd never get one anyway - just because he'd know that I'd have been right all along! ;)

Great pics. The R26R just looks ace. I didn't realise that it came with no stereo? Awesome! Focused ideas and ditching any additional weight - FTW!

The Megane looks great except I've always thought the carbon bonnet spoils the lines at the front. Oh well I guess that's not the point. I'd love one but I'm not sure I could live without a proper boot TBH. Clio looks awesome Lee, please don't get a spolier.

The last car I drove on the road with full harnesses was y0z2a's Cup. Once I'd gotten used to them today they were great, but at one point I needed to join a dual carriageway and really wanted to look over my shoulder, but instead had to rely on the wing mirror. I have a ticket thing I have to use to get into the car park for work, I'd never be able to reach it. Also, you can see how dirty the rear of a Megane gets, but due to the rear screen and side windows being polycarbonate you can't have a rear wiper!! I couldn't see a thing out the rear window, and you need to see cars disappearing in the rear view mirror. lol Plus surely a criminal could just cut the windows with a blade now!! Even easier than using a brick. While I'm picking faults, the tyres make a LOT of noise at low speeds, and you can hear any stone pinging on the underside of the car.

I've got huge respect for anyone who's hardcore enough to drive the R26.R every day as a daily driver. I could be getting old though! lol And for all it's faults, I expect on track or a good B road it's truly amazing. I still can't believe just how focused that car is. Someone at Renault has huge balls to have put that into production.

I know a few people who added harnesses to the Trophy, but just pulled them back out the way for road driving. Once you get used to it, being strapped in so tightly is pretty cool.

Unfortunately there's no plans for an R27.R, the timing of the R26.R is massively unlucky, with the credit crunch. I thought they had all sold, but they haven't.

Don't worry, the Cup won't be getting a spoiler, I can't be having my bodywork drilled.

Thing is Lee, what else is there in the back to nick other than a few bits of piping!

Gotta to agree with you on the Reno staff that had the balls to make this car. Hats off to them!

D.

I'm surprised they've not sold them all TBH.

It does cost money to engineer these things. Despite what many people think, it will have cost a small fortune to get this car to market, hence the price. Unfortunately the vast majority of buyers in this sector simply don't want to pay more for 'less'.

I think that's more likely why they have unsold units, rather than as a direct result of the recession. I guess it only makes the issue worse though. I'm so tempted. I need a boot though FFS :(
