Lastly I’ll say this…the color is not enhanced. At least, not with any color slider. I upped the contrast and then ran it through Silver Efex and blended the layer. The background of the image is that ugly orange-ish color because of the distant Phoenix city lights. And sometimes lightning does light up a sky in crazy colors.

I know where you are coming from though, it simply doesn't look real. Browse the guys site though, he has some epic shots of lightning.

Lightening it sooo difficult to get right. I tried it in the maldives, but didn't have enough storms to nail it!

Yeah I tried some super long shutter speeds to try and capture some storms when I went to Cuba, in principle its pretty straightforward, but in practise I found it wasn't as easy as some might say!!!
