Question washerpumps Prof. drawings

  Megane 2 GT 165
Ok here it goes,

One of my headlight washer jet isn't working but the hose going to it isn't blocked.

While changing my leaking washer bottle I checked how the pumps were fitted and how they should work. My guess is that my headlight washer never can have worked properly. Since it is a second hand car which I already own 2+ years, I don't have any warrenty.

First professional drawing.
This is how the windscreen washer and backwindow washer are fitted, AND WORKING.

Second drawing is how my headlight washer hoses are fitted.

Explaination about the drawing.

Red block is an rubber valve that will slide from one side to the other when the washer pump is changing rotation direction.
Blue is water flowing

My question is:

Is this fitted correctly? If so the motor of the headlight washer should change rotation direction. (then probably the red block (valve is stuck) or the motor is f**ked)

If this is not correctly fitted, how should it be fitted? Or do I have a wrong washer motor fitted to my car?

BTW my car is an Clio 2 Ph 2 as shown on the left under my name. And the professional drawings was a joke offcourse.

Thanks for reading.

Right, the drawing for the headlight washers is wrong. It is one tube coming from a separate pump on the washer bottle. It feeds both washers, they are not separately fed.
They are UCH controlled and only operate A) if the headlights are on and B) If you wash the windscreen for more than 5 seconds (I think, but there's a definite time delay!)

The windscreen/rear window one looks correct however.

The diagrams look right to me. Mine has two identical pumps, both with two tubes, and the pump reverses direction like you said. I've replaced both after water only came out of one tube, presumably because the rubber stopper became stuck.

That's on a 2002 Mk2 Ph2. Maybe they changed it later.

Changing pumps sorted what sounds like exactly the same problem for me. And the headlights definitely had a separate tube each.

Ok, I stand corrected then

But if that drawing is correct how does water spray out of both headlight washers at the same time? :S

It doesn't! It does one at a time;).

At least it should... has someone replaced yours and connected the pipes up? Normal situation (at least for me) is the windscreen pump buzzes, then you hear two separate shots for the headlights. I suppose it stops both headlights dimming slightly at the same time.

That's a 172 though, maybe they changed it later.

Thanks for your replies,

I was wondering if the jets should be spraying at the same time. The way it is connected now, the only possibility is that they spray one at a time.

As far as I know the rubber stopper is stuck then. When I blown air through the hoses, the two jets seem to be working. this afternoon I will be changing my water reservoir, so will be looking into the rubber stopper.

Thanks again,

Felix

Fixed,

The rubber stopper indeed was stuck. Now the washer are spraying again. I found my right sided (driver side in UK) headdlight washer leaking now, so that's another problem I have to take care of. (luckily there's enought to be found with the search)

GR172 you are right the headlight washer spray one at a time.
