Quick MOT question

Lee

  BMW M2C
If I had a car which had been off the road for a while and no longer had an MOT, are the only ways of getting it to an MOT centre to get it MOT'd on trade plates or by trailer?

Cheers,

Lee

You can drive to a MOT test center. The only thing is it has to be a pre booked MOT test.
The other way is to get somone with trade plate to put them on the cars and after a short safty check the cars covered under the trade plates.

Your allowed to take to and from testing station only, but you will need insurance.

That's where I fell at the first fence, you can't take out insurance on a car with no MOT. :(

We gave the car a once over of all the things on the check list. All the things we could check looked okay.

Don't you mean you can't get road tax without an MOT?

Insurance is invaild without an MOT but I wasn't aware insurance companies checked yet.

I asked when I was trying to sort it out, I didn't want to take the risk of driving without insurance, even for just a few miles.

no, to drive 3rd party on any car, the vehicle in question must be insured for use on a public road

You dont require MOT for insurance.

Yup you dont require it !

Say u were working on a "project" car is off the road and no MOT but u still want it insured.......

What about when ur normal road car fails an MOT etc... they cant just invalidate ur insurance as long as ur coming back from an MOT station or going to one to a pre-booked appointment.
