quick question

I'm new to cars I have a clio 1.2 16v and I fine some times when I'm pottering about in the garage that when I hold the accelerator down it only goes upto 4500 and stops is thus a problem I'm not sure help...

A lot of cars nowadays won't let you sit there bouncing it off the rev limiter while its stationary, ECU sops it revving past a certain point. No idea whether a Clio is like that but I'm sure the search function or google will help you out.
