Quixx Headlight Restoration Kit

Has anyone used this restoration kit as found on Ktec's website? Just wondered if anyones got any experience with it.

I bought this kit off eBay as it was half the price of the 3M/Meguiars kits. Used it exactly as directed and it's hardly made them better tbh, put some right elbow grease into it as well. Wouldn't buy it again. Actually thinking about getting the 3M kit and giving that a try.

I've tried the 3M kit (twice) with little benefit - actually I thought the first attempt was a waste of money. I put it down mainly to my technique and the fact that I just couldn't get on with the circular pad on the drill - in terms of having proper control.

I bought the Quixx kit on a whim, the last time we were in The Range. At £12, it's cheaper than the 3M kit and includes all the relevant grit pads, along with the polish (and importantly) the sealant, for afterwards. https://www.therange.co.uk/motoring/vehicle-maintenance/quixx-headlight-restoration-kit/#935141

Just tried it on the 182 now and the results pissed all over the 3M offering. Granted, with headlights facing the full amount of crap thrown up over 12+ years and 140k+ miles, they will never be 100% flawless. But the result is much better than the previous offering - to an extent that I might even buy another one of their kits later in the year.

Definitely recommended.

Invest in a cheapish da, some wet and dry and G3 scratch remover and you'll never have to shell out £15+ every time you want headlights doing.

And you'll get better results

I know it's more than the kit you've linked, but you've got it forever, it's more versatile and you'll get better results

I used the meguiars 2 step kit on mine and it's worked well. Went for it because the 2nd stage has UV protection in it so should hopefully last longer before needing to be done again.

Sanded with 800,1200,1500 and 2000. Will get polished up tomorrow.

Lol - you beat me to it. The starter grit in the kit is 2,000...

I honestly thought that the manual method would be a right PITA, but it was all straggly-forward enough. I've got a Porta-Cable too - so might try Knuckles's suggestion at a later date.

The first time I did headlights I started at 1500 for fear of damaging them but that took forever.

This is by hand by the way, not with a sander

The AutoGlym kit starts with 800 too. Works well and decent results.

Not off the top of my head sorry.

Have a look through the gunmans channel on YouTube, see if there's anything on there.

It's basically just rubbing with various grits though
