Quoted performance figures

  Ziel Nurburgring

I know that the figures put out by companys are approx, but are they posted from a brand new engine before being run in? If so does that mean a car would achieve quicker speeds in the real world in perfect conditions? If they are set on brand new engines, can you remove a few tenths from each time for a "real time". The reason i ask is that manufacturers quote one figure and people then say "The r32 is much quicker than that", well where did they get the figure from in the first place? Also, do you think that manufacturers should put down on paper in gear times, so you can see a rolling time for a 20-30,30 to 50,30-70, 30-100 etc.

They either quote above or below the expected figures. Nowdays its mostly below to cover thier asses. (Unless you are called chrysler)

They will not quote exact figures, ever.

The best road tests are performed by autocar magazine, the cars are normally run in and the tests are performed using a vbox and some other methods of timing.

Most magazines do this.

thats the same with the TT225 which has the same 0-62 time as the V63.2!! but we know what one would deliver the quicker time.
