R32 Skyline GTR's

And come on now, "they still beat most supercars" is a bit a massive generalistion isn't it? I assume you're only talkin tuned ones as well of course?

I remember when I was in hospital, someone bought me a MaxPower (the shame, I hid it when anyone came to visit - but obviously still thanks the purchaser as that would just be rude not to - and I'm 99% it was MaxPower not FastCar etc) and mainly due to extreme, suicidal bordem I read it from cover to cover. It had a massive artical about Skylines and had some top specialists talking (they had a pair of yellow ones making 1000+bhp or something mental?) an they said everyones mate's brother has a '450bhp Skyline' - but in reality it's harder to get there than people make out. No idea how true all that is of course, but it suggested to me that there was a lot of power figure pub talk about them for some reason. Anyhoo, they went on to say how the only real way to dyno was engine out etc (The MaxPower one was done that way iirc and got just over 400bhp with a lot of money in it - was an R33 I think).

But then of course, 'only' having 400bhp isn't exactly anything to be ashamed of! I'm probably right in saying, even including the tuning costs, it's faster than anything else you can get for the coins - aside from maybe a Supra which might have it in a straight line?

I'm just waffling now, maybe I should go to bed...

Waitey - good luck with the search mate Have you sold the MX5 already? R32 isn't going to have the same, light, nimble feeling as the MX - but then, big power ftw!

the r32 set a lap record at the ring in standard form when it came out, it beat all other manufacturers that tried (porker, rarri etc) and since then every time a new gtr has come out its broken and set a new record that beats everything else.... so yes my comment saying it will beat most supercars is infact true...

pretty much every standard gtr had around 350bhp they were listed as having 250bhp, this was done as japan didnt want cars over 250bhp being produced, so nissan said yeh it has 250bhp... when dyno'd they have well over that though, and 400-500 bhp in a skyline isnt hard, bigger turbo's, exhaust, filters, injectors, chip and you will hit it.

r33 is the WORST skyline to get, they are heavy and fat, compared to tthe 32 and 34 they are so s**tty lol, 32 is raw, 34 is hardcore, the 33 they tried to soften a bit, the drive feels disconnected to the car, i have driven all 3 and i have driven high powered versions of all 3 aswell as standard the 33 is so disapointing

however talking colours,

r32 grey or white,
r33 only colour to get it in is midnight purple
r34 white, bayside blue, midnight purple, black all acceptable lol

Nah i like that one. An R33 gtr is shitty? lol

The Australian touring cars (Holden and Ford) changed the rules after getting hammered by the R32 GTR so that the cars could only have 2WD and no forced induction. (Bad losers :rasp: )

Well a lot of people on Pistonheads reckon that when it mullered the ring record it was a boosted up special on slicks heh. I remember the discussion when the new GT-R came out and started breaking records, people were all saying "Is it standard or the same as the R32/R33, that had the boost turned up, and ran slicks for the attempt?" and no one seemed to be disputing that, despite there been a lot of Skyline fans in the thread. But I don't have a reference for that, so please don't get too shouty with me

Much like the new GT-R then? What's it rated at, 480bhp was it? Mags testing them seem to be seeing bigger figures than that, leading to the general thought that they were actually 480bhp at the wheels, and like, 520 at the fly or something. Love the new GT-R but haven't they taken big steps to make them harder to mod ? And I hate the idea of it tracking you to see where you are, and just having the limiter come off when you're on track heh! I know it's Japan only that but still, the idea of being tracked at all doesn't sit well with me hehe

I'd guess at around 500bhp mark since its not using a single turbo set up.

crunching cos it has a straight cut dogleg box you dont need to use the clutch to change gears and he uses the clutch and just doesnt know how to use it...

Noob question - As they're AWD, how come he's able to do a burnout? Can you adjust where the power is going manually? It does look fairly mental, the spoiler doesn't really do it for me mind heh...

on the r32 its as simple as removing a fuse or fitting a switch to choose rwd or awd, the vspec or nur spec has a controller to allow you to choose it, that vid looks like he uses a line lock on the front wheels though.
