Racking up the miles?

  Clio RSI 1.6
After reading on a few forums about mileage, some people are getting over 250k mileage on various engines, is this possible on the Clio engines? I have the 1.6 k4 engine..
Just tipped 87k mileage, it's a V reg.

What mileage does everyone else get and how old is your car?

I'd love to see my clio reach 200k, shame i simply dont do enough mileage to get there :( Almost half way though :)

Theres a trophy that was on over 170k iirc

My Mk2 172 is now on just under 130,000 miles, I've done 85k in 5 years!. :approve:

However it's in the garage now having a gearbox re-con, and new clutch fitted :dapprove: then 200k here I come.

Mine's on 125k, just had a new cambelt, dephaser, runs as good as it always has done. On the RR in six weeks to see if it still knocks out close to 190.

In short, if looked after and driven enthusiastically, I think they'll keep going and going.

I don't think I've heard of any engines breaking apart from lack of maintenance.

The old girl was 5½ years old, 99,570 and even after a crash that wrote the car off, she still started first time...even after the front end write off...she'd be on around 150,000 now if she hadn't been written off...as she was a pleasure to drive and always started first time (the one occasion she didn't, a quick wipe of the leads going from the coil pack and she was fine.

As said, if looked after service wise...and driven enthusiastically (sp), they will go for quite some time.

Fair play to Sir Dave, I bet she's still a pleasure to drive and in terms of smiles per mile...there are not many cars out there that would come close.

dave thats incredable, how does it feel when driving?

Impressive that it's still on the original clutch/box Dave.

It did 72k before it was a year old????

James - it feels exactly the same as the mint one i had before, that was on 52k when i bought it!! Luke_89 on here owns that one now :)

Fletcher - fingers crossed it lasts, super skint now 330 has bought shares in Shell

DrRollo - yeah, crazy isnt it, had its 12k service after 3 weeks iirc. When i bought it off nby, i didnt really look into the history that much, i just rocked up & bought it. Having read through the history though, it wanted for nothing! Serviced every 12k at Renault, PE2's throughout its life, ELF oils, etc. I'll add up the invoices at some point, will probably make baby Jesus cry ..

12k in 3 weeks? That's 571 miles a day, every day.

I don't believe that!

Company car I presume Dave?

Mine was a company car, the history it came with is unbelieveable. Everything itemised and written down, not a service missed, all done at main dealers. Wanted for nothing.

i wouldn't want to do 600 miles every day for 3 weeks in any car, let alone a clio....

Yeah, was a company car. The chap lived in Solihull, but worked in Andover - nice 220 mile daily commute! Then did business mileage on top as a consultant for a furniture company, so huuuuge mileages ... but yes, sod doing it in a clio.

I've done almost 5500 miles in 12 weeks since I got mine... 62,000 miles now. I'm in 2 minds about whether I sell it next year or just run it until it dies, lol.

  172 Ph1/Scooby MY00
Mine's on 147,000. Clutch replaced late summer although apparently it still had some miles left in it. Going by Sir Dave, perhaps I'm changing the oil too often (every 5000 miles).

  Jap Box
Mines on 129,000, no idea on changes and services and I had no history with the car when bought. I know its been in a front end crash though and been repaired and sprayed.
