ello - been trying to sort out my other halfs PC, running terribly... the RAM is part of the problem.

Unless im going mad it says they have 224(?!) meg of ram... firstly, XP isnt great with this little RAM is it, and secondly... 224????... shouldnt it be 128 / 256 / 512 etc?

They seem to have lost 28 rams? whats going on there?

The 28mb of Ram lost is used by the onboard graphics card.

That 28MB of ram assigned to graphics will also be the problem.

right.. didnt know that cheers.. So they only have 256 meg? deary me..

i want to get them a nice 1gig stick.. Any idea how i can find out what mobo they have and what it will take, ram speed wise?.. dont want to by them a stick of DDR2 6400, doubt it will support it... guessing the mobo is about 2 yrs old... Anywhere in windows which will say what model mobo you have without taking it apart and looking for a print on the mobo itself? ta

Easiest way is whip the case off tbh then google it to see what it will take.

If you do manage to get more ram then assign a bigger amount to graphics, maybe 128MB or more should help.
