Rattling at 3000rpm

I've searched this problem and found similar but not the same problems.

Anyway, I think this happens in all gears but it is really noticeable in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Basically, at 3000 revs I get a rattling sort of sound coming from the passenger side around the battery area. This rattling then progresses into a squealing noise at higher revs.

It feels like I can't push the car too hard or something will snap or bang.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Exhaust heatshield? I've secured that and it doesn't seem to be coming from that direction.

How do I check the gearbox mount and engine mounts?

gearbox mount.

should then look like this:

Bottom left corner is the g/box mount. Check for wear/loosness. Also, check the spider leg type thing that connects this to the gearbox. These can sheer and break

I checked what I think it is you mean and I can't see any problems and it doesn't seem loose or anything.
Anyone else see anything wrong with it?

That looks fairly new actually.

Have you checked the 3 prongs that go from the bottom of that mount to the gearbox housing?

No, What should I be looking for with them?
Will I need to take the air box off to see them?

Just finished fitting my decat and the higher pitched squealing seems to have gone now. It done still rattle slightly when you put your foot down over 3000 rpm but nowhere near as bad.

Could the squealing of been from a small crack I saw in the old cat?

No, it only seems to be noticable after 3rd gear.

I have noticed the rattling is there all the time under acceleration but is quiet at low revs. Also, it only rattles when accelerating. E.g if I stay at 4k revs it doesn't rattle but if the revs are increasing it rattles.

Dragging an old thread up but did you get this sorted? I'm having the same rattle at 3k which isn't the heatshields or the centre section. Annoying.
