Raw converters

for some reason i can not install the adobe plugin for my compy of CS4...have no idea why its like this ....

But are there any good free programs for RAW files?

Try lightroom. It is great for handling raw files. Not free though.

XnView can open and convert raw images, it's free aswell

In my photoshop CS4 it opens them up in a Raw viewer where you can arse with the setting of the image. You then press a button and it opens up in PS.. I didn't install any plug ins either? Unless mine came with it already

Mine open fine in Photoshop CS3 Extended with no additional apps or plugins

Mine used to open fine when i had CS3 but since purchasing...CS4 it wont open them in the viewer :< rubbish.

Nope. Uses ACR, just like CS3.
